APPERANCE

Um, at first sight, it looks like a neat brick, as there is no protuberance on its surface. Generally, its simple design just meets my taste.

Okay, let’s see what’s on it: six sockets and a subtle light indicator on the top, four anti-slip rubber paddings at the bottom, a switch and five USB ports just sit on the left and right edges. It’s a pleasure that its 1.5 meter long cable ensures it is convenient to be placed wherever you want at home or office.

Highlights

Having USB ports directly on the power strip allows me to simply plug in USB cables directly without needing to use a separate charger which is a huge thing. Trust me, you will thanks to this design especially when you can’t find charger for your phone or tablet’s.

The Elivebuy power strip has five USB ports, three of them give out 1 Amp for smartphone while the other two give out 2.4 Amp for tablet. When all five are active, the strip supports a total of 7.8A.

Teardown

I always believe inner beauty is more important, comparing to the appearance. To learn more about the gadget, I tore it down in an afternoon.

Remove the six screws is just a little nut. Lever the bottom panel, however, is really a hard work, it costs me ten minutes to take it apart.

Obviously, it equipped with surge protector, as the photo suggests. And the protector is wrapped by an insulating tape to prevent leakage (I have cut off the tape). The components including: three MOVs, an inductor and two resistors.  The protector’s joule rating is 1700J. Typically, the higher the joule rating, the longer a protector will protect for.  If you live where lightning storms are common, good surge protection is a must.

These five USB port also features surge protector. It is safe to plug your smartphone or table into the port.

The solder joint is thick, making the copper cable is tight enough.

  

Wrap Up

My only nit with the design is that all the outlets are inward, when a big-size adapter is plugged into a socket, it will cover the opposing socket. Besides, it is a bit heavy, taking with it when travelling is not a good idea.
